LIONS CLUBS CAIRNS & FNQ WELCOMES YOU

Council Chairperson of Australia 2023

My theme for this Lions year is, “People Our Business”. We are in the business of helping people who are less fortunate than ourselves. We cannot operate successfully alone. We have to work as a team. As a group of Lions are a powerful force, especially when we are mutually supporting each other. We all have goals that we wish to achieve in the areas of: service activities, membership development, leadership development and fundraising for LCIF.

Council Chairperson, Australia (MD201)

Vin Pang

District Governor 2023, Multi Mistrict 201 Q2

My theme for the Year is "Passion drives Change".

We are dedicated and we need to find our passion to drive our service forward; giving others the opportunity to give service. Be brave my fellow Lions- take that bold first step. Have the confidence to lead and then step out of the way and let the members lead. Invite younger people to lead and to serve. Give them the opportunity. Listen to their ideas. Build teams to work together. Change begins with you, Lead by example, lead bravely, work together and When we share, WE can Change the World.

District Governor, FNQ & PNG (MD201 Q2)

Jo Lynes

Zone Chairperson Multi District 201Q2, 2023 / 2024

Life is a journey, an adventure of a lifetime and we all should make the most out of it every single day. We need the courage to embrace change and explore new horizons. However, endless conversation about change is the barrier. Commit to do something and then act. This is what is required. If you see a better world, you need strong faith that you can make a difference. Then you need to inspire people with passion to achieve more than they may ever have dreamed. Together we act, we do things differently, we create emotions by giving back. Lionism is an experience.

75 years and counting

We’ve served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbours, our communities and our world first. Since the first Lions club was formed in Lismore, NSW in September 1947, we have grown to be Australia’s largest service club organisation. 2013 Lion Barry Palmer AO elected at the first Australian to hold the role of International President of Lions Clubs International, presiding over 1.4million Lions in over 200 countries.

Today, Lions Cairns and FNQ count 8 Clubs with around 150 members, 65+ years of community service history and long term friendships! We look back with pride, but we know it’s only the beginning. Every day, we’re building on our legacy with the goal of making an even greater impact in the future. We strive to make a positive change in all of our pursuits. Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in the actions of our initiatives. From the moment we started our work, we understood that by working together we could overcome challenges and serve our community much more efficiently.

Lions Club International is a service club (NGO)

Lions serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities, and the world. Lions Clubs International is the largest membership-based service club organization in the world. Our 1.4 million members are serving locally and globally to help take on some of the biggest challenges facing humanity. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International. Established in 1968, LCIF provides grant funding to support the compassionate works of Lions, empowering their service and addressing the needs of their communities both locally and globally. We rely on members of the media and our Lions to help share our life-changing stories and inspire our communities to put their kindness in action. Changing The World

Change doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through many small choices. With every act of kindness, we change a life. With every Lions club and Leo club, we change a community. When we change our communities, we change the world. There’s an old saying – It’s the journey, not the destination. Changing the world is a journey. There’s no middle and no end. There is, however, a beginning. It’s up to each of us to simply begin. Like rain filling a bucket, we can change the world one drop at a time. With every small act of service, you contribute one step towards change. In fact, we are all changing the world with every decision we make. Truly meaningful changes will occur when we are intentional about the kind of changes we want to make. When we strive to make positive changes — in our lives and in the lives of others — we put good into the world. Be The Change!
